iRobot was founded in 1990 by three MIT roboticists: Rodney Brooks, Colin Angle and Helen Greiner. It began with research and military robots before finding mass-market success with the Roomba robot vacuum in 2002.

iRobot turned robotics ideas from the lab into a simple consumer product. Its story shows that a robot sells when it solves an everyday problem at a reasonable price.
